PROJECT DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

IMMEDIATE NEED! LPI, Inc., a leading manufacturer of industrial personnel lift systems and elevated work platforms, and a subsidiary of Plank Enterprises, Inc., is searching for a talented, enthusiastic PROJECT DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST to help grow business!

Project Development Specialists are the front line communication with existing and potential customers and are responsible for discovering the needs and requirements of applications while balancing the abilities to cultivate prospects into customers.  If you like variety and the challenge of finding the best solution, you will work with prospective customers, conferring with Engineering, Design and Operations departments to determine the best possible approach, costing, and lead time, to present to the customer.  This position involves working through the entire process with your customer from initial contact to after sales support and long term relationship building. 

In this role as PROJECT DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST, YOU will MAKE AN IMPACT by:

  • Identifying customer needs through a product application process.
  • Develop, investigate, and pursue sales leads by calling and emailing potential customers to discuss their application and needs.
  • Maintaining customer relations with established accounts and distributors and manage multiple projects.
  • Providing a consistent communication link with customers to provide product information and quotes.
  • Utilizing CRM system to record communications, orders and quotes.
  • Working closely with Engineering, Design and Operations departments on a daily basis to develop leads and concepts into sales.
  • Providing feedback to Marketing and Sales Managers for new market/product identification and development.
  • Attending industrial trade shows when called upon.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.


What do we need from you as a PROJECT DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST?

  • Be mechanically inclined and inquisitive, with the ability to understand industrial processes and systems.
  • Strong verbal, written and listening skills.
  • Have the ability to effectively work with customers and co-workers at all levels.
  • Be a high energy, self-motivated, team player.
  • Have the desire to occasionally travel to distributors or customers facilities for training or project meetings

What type of Education and/or Experience is needed?

  • A Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering Technology or Business Administration
  • 3 years combined inside/outside technical or industrial sales experience is desired although not required.

CUSTOMER SERVICE/FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Customer Service/Field Service Technicians are responsible for quoting and processing parts orders for customers and distributors; assist customers in diagnosing equipment issues over the phone/email; coordinating customer service needs with Engineering, Production & Purchasing and Customer.  Travel to customer sites to perform equipment inspections and repairs. Be responsible for proactive communication with current and past customers to set up annual inspections to grow parts and service sales.

In this role as CUSTOMER SERVICE/FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN, YOU will MAKE AN IMPACT by: 

  • Handling customer inquiries and requests, via phone, fax and email, for parts and service to determine needs.
  • Gathering information from customers on parts needs to communicate and coordinate with Operations, Purchasing and Manufacturing to determine lead time and cost to provide accurate quotes to customers.
  • Following established procedures to enter Quotes and Sales Orders into the CRM system.
  • Providing feedback and recommendations to Sales and Engineering departments on any improvements or changes that could improve our products.
  • Scheduling and arranging field service calls.
  • Traveling to customer locations for Service, Installation or Warranty work on LPI equipment.
  • Coordinating with Sales and Engineering Managers on field projects that require support from additional staff.
  • Filing Field Service Reports with customer, and internally, promptly after performing on site work.
  • Maintaining receipts from trips and filing expense reports in a timely manner upon return to office.
  • Maintaining communication records in CRM system.  
  • Searching existing Sales and Engineering documentation to insure that proper parts are provided to customers.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

 

What do we need from you as a Customer Service/Field Service Technician? 

  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints, troubleshoot, and converse with engineers when working on products or projects.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and desire to be challenged with new technologies.
  • Ability to travel on short notice and potentially for extended periods of time.
  • Desire to be a team player providing positive and negative feedback in a teaming manner.
  • Demonstrated capability to work both independently and within team environment while managing multiple assignments.
  • Ability and knowledge to use hand tools to perform filed service work.
  • Must be able to manage and coordinate multiple projects months in advance

 

What type of Education and/or Experience is needed?

  • Associates Degree or equivalent from a two year technical college with emphasis on repair and maintenance including pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, controls systems, or a demonstrated combination of technical experience and training

As a KEY member of the sales team, this person is responsible for leading collaboration between engineering, operations, and our customer for standard and custom projects. Also drives initiatives to increase our win ratio and the efficiencies of sales operations.

We are looking for a mission critical sales operations team member to join our dynamic sales team. Proactive - Future Thinking - Comfortable Making Decisions - this person will have broad scope but be accountable to deliver projects within timeline and budget. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary

- Lead weekly project meetings as required
- Establish project plan for custom engineering solutions and lead weekly meetings internal / customer
- Coordinate/manage project scope, timeline’s and deliverables for custom projects
- Cross-departmental collaboration between engineering, operations, accounting and sales

Secondary

- Assists with sales and marketing activities for projects as needed

- Identify and execute strategies to increase the efficiency of sales operations

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in a broad range of technologies ranging from electrical, mechanical, hydraulic to pneumatic and control systems
- Strong organizational skills including ability to manage simultaneous projects
- Strong working knowledge of standard office computer programs. Engineering software experience a plus
- Ability to travel sometimes on short notice as needed
- Self-motivated individual with strong work ethic that will take ownership of assigned projects
- Personable with good social skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Two or four year degree in business or technical field, work experience in similar roles a plus
- Travel Minimal as required (10-15%)
