Modern manufacturing environments differ greatly, which means a standard, pre-engineered overhead lift frequently won’t work for individual operational needs.
A customized overhead lift is designed to be fully compatible with your established processes and workflows. As a result, this equipment resolves complex factors that hamper efficient production, including space constraints, difficulty accessing products, and mounting requirements.
Custom overhead lifts generate a higher return on investment than off-the-shelf models or traditional approaches.
There’s no need for your team to exit the platform or move it manually, as would be required with ladders. Built-in power enables fast relocation so work can continue with minimal interruption, reducing downtime and boosting efficiency.
A specially engineered lift also offers a longer operating life since it’s custom-built for the task and operating environment.
Improved workplace safety is one of the primary benefits of a custom overhead lift. This equipment’s design helps promote better worker comfort and ergonomic access with reduced stretching and reaching. As a result, you lessen the chances of injury that can lead to lost work, lower production and workers’ compensation claims.
Plus, customized overhead lifts can be engineered with specific controls and reach distances to help make a task safer. You can also incorporate features like rails and harness anchors that offer fall arrest and protection for additional safety.
As their name implies, overhead lifts help you maximize your floor space without compromising on precision maneuverability. This equipment is also compatible with customized runways and bridges to cover a wide area while keeping floor space clear.
Custom overhead lifts deliver tangible value in many production and upkeep use cases, including:
Overhead rail-guided lifts are especially valuable for high efficiency in processes following linear workflows. This design is ideal for the production and upkeep of long, straight parts such as rail cars, large tanks and transit vehicles.

Lifts should be inspected at least once a year, and more often if they’re used heavily or in harsh environments. Key wear items should be checked during routine maintenance, and any parts showing damage or excessive wear should be replaced right away. We recommend following your facility’s safety practices along with the inspection and maintenance guidance outlined in ANSI A92.22 Sections 5.4 and 5.5 to keep your lift operating safely and reliably.
Installation instructions are located in the Operators Manual that comes with your lift system (located in the plastic holder in the operator platform). Lifts should only be installed by qualified personnel. If you have any questions with regard to the installation of your lifts, please contact LPI customer service or call 1-800-657-6956.
