Rail Type Configurations and Positioning

Various types of rail systems are available from LPI Lift Systems:

  • Linear rails: These rail-guided, self-propelled scissor lifts move along overhead tracks or fixed flooring in linear spaces. Both surface-mount and recessed floor rail systems perform well in painting, inspection, and assembly applications.
  • Curved rails: On these lift types, the rails are adapted to the product geometry to maintain consistent standoff for sanding, prep, touch-up, or coating tasks.
  • Overhead rails: These suspended, rail-guided systems move personnel along elevated or ceiling-mounted tracks.

From Manufacturing to Application

  • Design inputs: Our team accounts for product geometry, booth openings, aisle widths, pit depths, overhead obstructions, clearances, and height and reach requirements. We can also add an axis of movement through platforms that slide out or extend.
  • Platform and operator protection: We use your input to inform deck shape and entry locations. We can also add restraint anchorage, guarded entries, and utilities like air power and lighting. We’ll route these solutions to maximize operator safety and streamline task flow.
  • Power and controls: We can provide various power and control solutions that align with the requirements and specifications of the environment and your applications. Controls offer precise horizontal and vertical travel with an accessible E-stop. We can build lifts with a fixed control pedestal and optional pendant controls per the specification.
  • Integration: Our extensive integration capabilities encompass manufacturing, process customization, rail-guided and mobile solutions, and fixed and custom mounts across a wide range of industries.
  • Compliance and applications: We engineer systems to meet applicable standards from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and support best practices from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Common industrial rail-guided lift uses include inspection, surface preparation, touch-up, assembly and maintenance.

LPI offers an option for trained technicians to assist with the start-up and installation of your LPI industrial lifts which includes training for both your operators and your maintenance personnel. This service is also available after the sale as a refresher or augmentation to your current training or maintenance program. To learn more about Lift Operator Training, Start-Up Installation, and Lift Maintenance Programs, please contact LPI customer service or call 1-800-657-6956

Lifts should be inspected at least once a year, and more often if they’re used heavily or in harsh environments. Key wear items should be checked during routine maintenance, and any parts showing damage or excessive wear should be replaced right away. We recommend following your facility’s safety practices along with the inspection and maintenance guidance outlined in ANSI A92.22 Sections 5.4 and 5.5 to keep your lift operating safely and reliably.

Installation instructions are located in the Operators Manual that comes with your lift system (located in the plastic holder in the operator platform). Lifts should only be installed by qualified personnel. If you have any questions with regard to the installation of your lifts, please contact LPI customer service or call 1-800-657-6956.
