Manufacturing and assembling locomotives and railcars requires safe and efficient equipment beyond conventional ladders and scaffolding. LPI Lift Systems offers a complete lineup of work platforms ideal for railway equipment, including boxcars, tank cars, hoppers, gondolas, flatcars and more. These lifts enable workers to position themselves precisely along sidewalls, atop roofs, at end frames and underneath chassis while increasing productivity and decreasing injury risks.
Our lifts work well for nearly any type of railcar, from high-cube boxcars and covered hoppers to tanks and well cars. Many of these solutions can integrate seamlessly with your shop’s track centerlines, pit depths and booth openings while working around existing cranes, platforms and overhead obstructions. Pneumatic operation reduces the risks of igniting flammable paint fumes and causing a fire.

Lifts should be inspected at least once a year, and more often if they’re used heavily or in harsh environments. Key wear items should be checked during routine maintenance, and any parts showing damage or excessive wear should be replaced right away. We recommend following your facility’s safety practices along with the inspection and maintenance guidance outlined in ANSI A92.22 Sections 5.4 and 5.5 to keep your lift operating safely and reliably.
Installation instructions are located in the Operators Manual that comes with your lift system (located in the plastic holder in the operator platform). Lifts should only be installed by qualified personnel. If you have any questions with regard to the installation of your lifts, please contact LPI customer service or call 1-800-657-6956.
